I love my children

It's hard work being the meanest mom on the block. I mean it doesn't take much to knock you off the block and get you outta the running. Another mom just needs to throw away their kids DS once and you're done. I mean there are constantly things you need to do. Forget to pack their lunch but put it in the back pack ... take them to the dentist three times in a month .... make them sit at the table until their 1/3 cup of food is eaten after they were flailing about on the floor because they're starved. (that's a two for one) Forget to pick them up on early release at least three times ... making your kids wear clean clothes to school ... not letting them sleep in their cloths and wear them to school. Or making them wear the same underwear again because laundry didn't get done. Having them sit with both cheeks on the chairs at the table. Not sitting on other peoples heads. Getting other people's feet out of your mouth. Not touching eyes that aren't ours. Not eating/licking car tires that aren't ours. Or Ours either. These are all things that are not easy to do. Some of them require planning and rearranging of time and schedules. It's especially tough if you do not own DVR/TiVo. There's the bed time and the no chocolate in your bed part and the

But to put all these things in focus. I just want to make sure that as my children grow up and become adults and eventually (because we all will) head off to their first therapist's appointment to discuss how they are unable to trust/relate/communicate/feel genuinely towards chores. I don't want them sitting their paying good money to this man and not have anything to say. I am not going to waste my children's hard earned money. I love my children enough to make sure they have something to talk about. It's not easy and it won't be a one shot deal but I'm prepared to make that sacrifice and explore more options for the future. One I think we're going to instigate soon is singing "Love At Home" to the neighbor when we talk rudely to one another. That will cause a lot of grief and inner angst. There will be being grounded and having to ride the bus to H.S. When we miss curfew. There will be going on dates with the neighbor old lady as a personal chaperon. I can foresee many hours of push ups in stores and many hours of mom homework papers about cleaning things and dirty things.

So I implore of you to think of your children. Don't let their money go to waste. Love them now.

You forgot all of the accidental stuff we do too. Like letting the baby cry it out in his crib because he's tired only to walk in after he's fallen asleep and see that his legs are stuck through the crib bars. Or sending your child to time out for being on the counter again only to find out that he was getting cereal for his brother for breakfast so he wouldn't wake you up. There are all of the intentional things, but it's the unintentional stuff that makes us really therapy worthy.

Love this. Thank you for the laugh. As another mom of 3 boys, I hear exactly where you're coming from. HOpe you're doing well.

Yay! I finally found your blog again...been looking for a while. Love it. You've got wit oozing out your pores. Always good for a laugh. Good to know I'm not wasting my kid's money. Just like my parents didn't waste mine...
